About the poet: Bruce Niedt is a retired "beneficent bureaucrat" whose poetry has appeared in numerous print and online journals, including Rattle, Writers Digest, US 1 Worksheets, Spitball, The Lyric, and Chantarelle's Notebook, as well as anthologies such as Best of the Barefoot Muse and Poem Your Heart Out. His awards include the ByLine Short Fiction and Poetry Prize and two Pushcart Prize nominations. He has taken intensive workshops with Billy Collins, Jane Hirshfield, Marge Piercy, and Molly Peacock. His sixth chapbook, Hits and Sacrifices, a collection of baseball-themed poems, is published by Finishing Line Press. He is a lifelong South Jersey resident, and a devoted husband, father, and "Pop-pop".
